COREN SIGNS MOU WITH HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES IN ABUJA, May 2023.

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies for the purposes of conducting cooperation on the Nigeria ICT talents development program.

Both Parties will strive to explore areas of mutual interest in ensuring that the training courses are in line with the competency standards and needs of the sector, as well as, conduct reviews of such as at when due to meet up with the technological trends and changes in the industry.

Also, the creation of programmes, ICT talent competitions, ICT Academy, Job Fairs, etc. in order to harness potentials in the industry and provision of opportunities for these trained professionals, will be in place.

In order to guarantee the sustainability of this collaboration, there is a proposed creation of a handshake between the Academia and the Industry. Essentially, this partnership is for a firm synergy to embed solutions in academic trainings to meet real-time needs in the industry while monitoring the technological trends and proffering adequate solutions.

Thus, COREN introduces the Huawei ICT Academy to all partner Universities and is prepared to nominate them for on-boarding on the Huawei learning platform.

It is expected that this collaboration will make the teeming population of the Nigerian engineering students and workforce to be more hands-on, ICT relevant and problem-solving oriented.
