WORKSHOP ON SYDNEY AND DUBLIN ACCORD
APPLICATION BY NIGERIA (UNDER THE JOINT EFFORT OF
COREN AND NBTE SUNDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2025

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria
(COREN), in collaboration with the National Board for
Technical Education (NBTE) hosted a Workshop on Sydney
and Dublin Accord Application by Nigeria.

The workshop was aimed at equipping stakeholders with
knowledge of the requirements, procedures, and roadmap
for Nigeria’s membership of the Sydney and Dublin Accords
.
Engineering Excellence Celebrated at Afe Babalola University

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, in
collaboration with Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, hosted
an inspiring Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony for 352
graduating engineering students on October 16, 2025.

FNSE, FAEng.in Kano today, 24th September 2025.
The President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in
Nigeria (COREN) Engr. Prof. Sadiq Z. Abubakar, FNSE, FAEng,
together with the Registrar, Engr. Prof. O.A.U. Uche, FNSE, FNICE,
alongside Members of the North-West Regional Steering
Committee,paid an Institutional visit to Aliko Dangote
University of Science and Technology, Wudil.
As part of its mandate on Engineering Regulation, Monitoring &
Enforcement (ERM&E), the COREN delegation led by the President,
Engr. Prof. Sadiq Z. Abubakar, FNSE, FAEng, and the Registrar,
Engr. Prof. O.A.U. Uche, FNSE, FNICE, together with Members of the
North-West Regional Steering Committee, conducted an inspection
of the Dan Agundi Flyover construction site
In preparation for the Regional Engineering Stakeholders Summit
on Manufacturing, Reforms, and the New Operational Framework
of COREN North West, the President of COREN held a pre-meeting
with members of the Steering Committee on 22nd September 2025
at Zeennoor Hotel, Kano State.
In a recent media briefing , The President of Dangote Refinery,
Aliko Dangote, said that Nigerian engineers hired to build his
650,000-barrel-per-day plant performed better than their Indian
counterparts.

COREN INAUGURATES COMMITTEE ON THE AMENDMENT
OF THE ENGINEERS (REGISTRATION, ETC.) ACT (AS
AMENDED) 2018.


The inaugural meeting was held on Tuesday,
26th August 2025, at COREN Headquarters, Abuja.


In his welcome remarks, the President of COREN,
Engr. Prof. S. Z. Abubakar, FNSE, FAEng underscored
the importance of the assignment, noting that the review
of the Act is critical to strengthening Engineering regulation,
aligning with global best practices and ensuring the
profession remains responsive to emerging national and
international realities.

In a landmark move to strengthen regulation and foster greater collaboration in Nigeria’s construction and
built environment sector, three major regulatory bodies The Council for the Regulation of Engineering
in Nigeria (COREN), The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), and The Council of Mining
Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG)on Thursday in Abuja signed a tripartite Memorandum of

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) is a statutory body set up by the Federal Government of Nigeria with the mandate to regulate the practice of Engineering in all aspects and ramifications. It was established by Decree 55 of 1970, amended by Decree 27 of 1992 and now, Engineers (Registration, etc.) Act CAP E 11, 2004 which was further amended by the Engineers (Registration, etc.) (Amendment)Act
NO 3, 2018.
