REPORT ON TRAIN-THE-TRAINERS OBE WORKSHOP HELD AT UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, ENUGU CAMPUS (UNEC) FROM WEDNESDAY 17TH TO SATURDAY 21ST NOVEMBER, 2021
- Introduction
The third Train-the-Trainers OBE workshop was held at the CEMAC Hall of University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Enugu State from Wednesday 17th to Saturday 21st November, 2021.
About 70 participants from the following Twelve (12) Universities were in attendance, namely: Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Imo State University, Owerri, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, Enugu State University of Science & Technology, Enugu, Madonna University, Okija, Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu, Alike, Ebonyi State, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, and Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State.

- Registrar’s Welcome Address
The Registrar of COREN, Engr. Prof. Joseph Odigure in his welcome address, highlighted the objectives of the OBE Workshop and the expectations from participants at the end of the Workshop.
- Courtesy Call on the Deputy Vice Chancellor at UNEC
The Dean of Faculty of Engineering, University of Nigeria,Nsukka, Engr. Prof. Simon Obe, led the Registrar of COREN and his team on a Courtesy call to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Prof. Edith Ogonnaya Nwosu. The DVC warmly welcomed the Registrar and the COREN team. The Registrar thanked the DVC and the Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria, Nsukka for hosting COREN on the OBE workshop. He thereafter spoke on the objectives of the OBE workshop and requested the University to engage the services of the Bank of Industry in Nigeria to fund projects in the University that could ensure hands-on training and skills acquisition by Engineering students during and after graduation. He said that the era where engineering graduates roam about the streets in search of government paid jobs should be eradicated by the introduction of OBE system in universities.
In his response, the DVC assured that she would convey the message to the Vice Chancellor of the University and do hope that the University will key into the OBE programme, not only in Engineering programmes but also in other disciplines in the University.
The Courtesy call ended with a group picture by both parties. Thereafter, the team proceeded to the venue to commence the technical sessions of the workshop.
