Following resolutions of the ECOPACCE Workshop at the 33rd COREN Engineering Assembly (16th July 2025), COREN has set up a Committee to draft the third edition of the ECOPACCE document. The inaugural hybrid meeting held Today 20th August 2025 with members drawn from relevant stakeholders. The committee’s mandate is to review the ECOPACCE 2015 Report, the workshop resolutions, and Scale of Fees submissions; collect stakeholders’ inputs; draft a new edition covering all economic sectors, engineering cadres and practice; design and plan a validation workshop; and develop strategies for nationwide promotion and adoption. COURTESY VISIT TO COREN BY THE FEDERATION OF CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY (FOCI). 20/08/25
The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) today received a delegation from the Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI), led by its President, High Chief Vincent Abarah, on a courtesy visit. The team was warmly received by the Registrar, Engr. Okorie Austin Uche, FNSE.
Discussions centered on strengthening partnerships, deepening Engineering regulation across 11 critical sectors, and enhancing collaboration with industry stakeholders. Key highlights included:
- Implementation of the new COREN Act
- The role of ERM&E Committees across the 36 States and FCT
- Collaboration with construction companies to boost local content and youth training
- Nigeria’s participation in the Washington Accord for international recognition of Engineers
- Addressing challenges with foreign firms and promoting indigenous contractors
- The importance of enforcing building standards and ensuring public safety
The visit reaffirmed COREN’s commitment to transparency, regulation, and capacity development for the advancement of Engineering practice in Nigeria.
